Cheryl, I’m sorry to hear that your sauce didn’t turn out as expected. I can assure you that the photos are real, and the sauce should thicken in the slow cooker over time, but the final consistency can depend on factors like the type of tomatoes used and their moisture content. It’s not uncommon for Roma tomatoes to be a bit less watery, but even so, you might consider venting the slow cooker slightly to encourage more evaporation. If it still hasn’t reached the desired thickness after 8 hours, you can add some tomato paste to help achieve the consistency you want. Just stir it in, and it should thicken your sauce.
